Rapid Magazine Cover
Posted on May 18th, 2011 by Kamil Bialous.
I'm very happy to let you all know that my image was used on the cover of the summer issue of Rapid Magazine. It was shot a year or two ago on the Kananaskis River in Alberta, and the paddler in the photo is Paul Manning-Hunter. Not only was he an excellent freestyle kayaker, but now he's competing in K1M at the international level, and ranking at the top in events. I wish him all the best! For more of the whole mag, check out: www.rapidmag.com
Here's the cover.
When you've got as talented an athlete as Paul is it always amazes me how far you can go together in creating authentic images. Everything right down to facial expressions was working, including the awesome afternoon light that we got. I really truly believe that to make authentic images you need talent in the true sense of the word, not just models. Talented models are a bonus, and models are great for lifestyle shoots, but for active stuff - there has to be passion and skill. And I think Paul has it. Here are some more images from that shoot:
New Work: Cycling and urban biking lifestyle shoot for Mountain Equipment Co-op MEC
Posted on April 21st, 2011 by Kamil Bialous.
Happy to share some new work with you all. At the end of March I shot this series of images featuring Mountain Equipment Co-op's new bikes and cycling apparel for spring and summer 2011. Now that the images have made it up on MEC.ca, I can finally show you some of my favourites from the shoot. The day was absolutely awesome - first hot day of the year, late March, the sun shone hard (a little too hard) and we all had a great time. We rode around Vancouver hitting some easy going places like Athlete's Village and Gastown and eventually ending up in Chinatown. A big thank you to the super pro models, some of whom rode clipless for the first time ever (fearless)! I believe the fall count was one-all by the time we wrapped. By the way, if you don't know what/who MEC is, just check out their website. They are a bit like REI from stateside, but the membership is structured a bit differently.
Here are me faves from the day as well as some screenshots from MEC's website. I think they sum up the vibe of MEC's bike line quite well. Comfort. Street. Urban. Commuter. Love your bike. Do everything with it. Everyday. Why wouldn't you? Let me know what you think!
More new work arriving shortly, so be sure to come back now, y'hear?

My new photo print portfolio has arrived!
Posted on April 18th, 2011 by Kamil Bialous.
With spring comes a marketing refresh, and I've just received my portfolio book back from the print shop. I've taken the select best of my work from travel, outdoor adventure and active lifestyle, as well as some of my portrait and documentary work, and put in a big book with 30 images. It's 12" X 12" per side, making a double page spread a whole 24" which is exactly what I wanted. My photos show best when they're big and immersive. I'm excited to share a few snippets with you here.
If you're interested in taking a look at my book, I'd love to meet. Drop me a line here: http://www.kamilbialous.com/#/Contact/
If you're living in the digital world ONLY, you can check out more of my work here: http://www.kamilbialous.com
Up next are some cool print mailers for Spring! Stay tuned!

Couple of Photos in Gripped Magazine
Posted on January 8th, 2011 by Kamil Bialous.
The December 2010/January 2011 issue of Gripped Climbing Magazine has a couple of my pretty pictures running it. The climber in both is my good buddy Dale Sood who managed to string a couple sentences together (and very beautifully so) and craft a great article about training toward goals in your climbing. Have a look/read. It should be on the stands now.
Here are the photos:
Also, here's a link to Dale article which you can ready online on Gripped site:
Good job Dale! Let's work more together!
