Images from the Pacific Northwest – Road trip through coastal Washington state
Posted on June 11th, 2011 by Kamil Bialous.
I recently took a road trip along the northern coast of Washington state upon the recommendation of a few people that it's an amazing place. True enough. I took a few photos along the way as we wound out way through Bellingham, Fairhaven, Skagit county and Samish Island, Edison, sprawling tulip fields along Chuckanut Drive, Anacortes, over to Whidbey Island - Langley in particular, then back to Mukilteo, Ballard, Seattle and the home to Vancouver. All in a three day weekend with plenty of time to drag our feet around.
Enjoy the photos.
My best Easter experience ever – in Ayacucho Peru.
Posted on April 25th, 2011 by Kamil Bialous.
I spent the 2011 Easter long weekend travelling, eating and drinking my way through northern Washington state and the San Juan Islands. In a word - amazing. I've never imaged little towns with so much character in such a remote part of a state. But anyway, a blog post will surely describe that trip in the near future.
For now, check out some of these images I made 2 years ago during my most memorable Easter ever. I was working on a documentary project in Peru and on the advice of friends, we travelled to Ayacucho for Semana Santa. I won't attempt to write about the experience because words won't be able to explain the emotions, excitement, adventure, and spontaneity of that trip. So for now, these photos will have to do. I was motivated to share these after checking out some images from Spain of Semana Santa, which reminded me of my great trip. This place is not to be missed. A must-do on your life list.
Enjoy.
Latitude Restaurant and Wine Bar – My Fave Cocktail Place in Vancouver!
Posted on March 28th, 2011 by Kamil Bialous.
Had a long day last week. In the sun on a photo shoot, sunburned, crispy, lips chapped, eyes burning from the sun, dehydrated, starving, going slightly batty from fatigue. When I got the invite to meet for drinks that night, I knew it was a no brainer. Luckily the spot was Latitude on Main St. in Van - I haven't had a pisco sour this good since 2 years ago in Lima, and believe me, I've looked. The cocktails are delicious, the food is phenomenal, and the ambiance definitely exudes good vibes. I can't wait to go again.
Made some photos as the light was absolutely amazing. I would love to shoot their next marketing campaign. It's unique places with a dedication to do a few things really well (cocktails, wine, and food) that create an amazing equation. And make me want to go back!
Early September Tofino Surfing
Posted on September 18th, 2010 by Kamil Bialous.
I recently returned from an excellent trip to the Tofino area, where I had one of the greatest times of my life. Really enjoyable surfing , twice a day everyday, and the raw environment truly come together at this place to make it very special and almost enchanting. Here are some images. I can't wait to go back On October 9th for the O'neill Coldwater Classic happening in Tofino that weekend. For those who don't know, Peter Devries - Tofino local boy - won the event last year, and everyone is gunning for him to repeat. I'm probably gonna pull out the Nikon 400mm 2.8 for the action. Let's hope the weather and waves come together!
